The New York Historical Society

Students at Alain L. Locke Elementary School visited the New York Historical Society’s exhibition on Lincoln in New York.  Using items in the galleries as primary source documents, students examined and analyzed illustrations and portraits of the 16th president.  Located on the Upper West Side, this museum has many family friendly exhibits and programs.

Fourth Grade Biographies

From fourth grade reporter Ke-yara:
My class has been learning about the colonial times.  In class we have been gathering information about people that lived during the colonial time period.  One person is Molly Pitcher, another person is Phyllis Wheatley. In a few weeks you can see our narrative biographies hanging in the hallway!

Central Park Conservancy

A presentation was given to third graders at PS 208 by the Central Park Conservancy.  Volunteers shared information about “one of the urban wonders of the world.” Students learned about the history of Central Park and the different animals that call it home.

Museum of the City of New York

Third grade students from Alain L.
