Students at Alain L. Locke Elementary saved their change to make a change in Africa.

We are pleased to share with you some of the images of the computer being used at the Africa Hope Center in Kenya.  The students have this computer thanks to the fundraising efforts of the students of Alain Locke.

The 5th Annual Content in Arts Festival will be held Thursday, March 24th at 9:30AM and 4PM.  Students will be performing dances related to the Social Studies curriculum and artwork will be on display throughout the school building.  The dress rehearsal wll take place on Wednesday, March 23rd at 9:30AM.

We cannot wait to see you there!

Donations are being collected now!

A message from Ms. Adebiyi:

Last time (2009) as a school we raised $475.45 which went towards 2 funds; the Big Gift Rainforest as well as the Big Gift Sea Turtles.  We worked along with PS226 in order to raise those funds.  This year the project will be working solely on the Molino Pampa Community Reserve in northern Peru.  This is a rainforest in the Andes is home to rare species such as; the Yellow-Tailed Monkey, Mountain Tapir, and the Speckled Bear. These species are threatened by habitat loss from deforestoration.  Earth’s Birthday Project is also a charity known and backed by Terracycle in order to have funds raised to help in that effort. 

Did you know?

Ms. Adebiyi’s class has a pen pal relationship with a Kenyan School, The Kyaimu Primary School, Wamunyu, Machakos in Kenya. They are learning about Kenya through this cultural exchange.
