Art Teacher Mr. Bailey’s task for students:

The task was to infuse the arts with the social studies unit of westward movement to enable the students best practices and understandings.  Each individual was to create a satchel, map and journal.  These componsents were made to have the student understand and experience what it might have been like to participate in traveling west into the wilderness or the great unknown.

Students from Alain L. Locke Elementary School visited the Museum of Modern Art this April.  They saw environmentally friendly cars and art made out of recycled materials.  Even an art museum can teach you about going green!

The 5th Annual Content in Arts Festival will be held Thursday, March 24th at 9:30AM and 4PM.  Students will be performing dances related to the Social Studies curriculum and artwork will be on display throughout the school building.  The dress rehearsal wll take place on Wednesday, March 23rd at 9:30AM.

In art class, Mr. Baily taught students to make collage maps.  We used layers of certain paper to make it.  The papers are based on regions, like desert region, forest region, mountain region, etc.
