Santa visited PS 208 last week to drop off a present for every student thanks to the generous donation of Macys.com.

Here is a letter from fifth grader demonstrating the students’ appreciation:

Dear Macy’s.com,
 
I thank you so much for buying us gifts and for making a great start for the holidays for us. I know some people think holidays is about the gifts but it’s not. Holidays is about giving love and joy to your friends and family. So I thank you for giving us love and joy.Macy’s.com is the best!!!!!!

News from Ms. Wardlow’s class:

During Sept. & Oct.2010, students were shown many strategies to ensure success when reading books within a specific Zone of Proximal Development.  Students in Ms. Wardlow’s class 4-305 read several books and passed with 85% or higher, never failing any test at all!

These six amazing readers were presented with an Accelerated Reader Certificates, design pencils, and a sweet “cupcake” treat. Congrats to Rachel H., Rubianny P, Joshua L., Evimael R.,Jaiychaun S., and Mario P.

Locke Elementary has achieved Renaissance Learning’s Master status!  MasterStudents at PS 208 have been busy reading and quizzing on books throughout the school year and have reached this goal for the first time.  The Carmel Hill Fund Education Program has granted awards that will be used to sponsor trips, purchase supplies, and add new books to the school library.  Congratulations teachers and students!
