As part of a program through the Justice Resource Center, fifth grade students at Alain L. Locke Elementary participated in a mock congressional hearing. Students demonstrated their knowledge of the Constitution and organization of the United States government.

Fifth grades students celebrated their upcoming graduation from Alain L. Locke Elementary with a “Wii Go Hard Party.” Activities included singing karaoke, dancing, and playing skeeball.

On Wednesday, May 26th at 6PM OASIS afterschool program will present a Motown musical titled “Trouble in Olympus.”
When Zeus and Hera have an argument, Hades sees an opportunity to create trouble. Join Hermes and the Muses as they try to keep Olympus from falling apart.
There will be special performances by surprise R&B artists.

With the support of the Alain L. Locke PTA, the administration of PS 208 celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week. Events included a teacher luncheon, sweets and treats activities, as well as brand new t-shirts featuring the Alain L. Locke Elementary School logo.

Alain L. Locke Elementary hosted a school-wide celebration of Earth Day this past April. Students shared their feelings about Mother Earth and watched portions of a documentary all about dirt. DIRT! The Movie, tells the amazing and little known story of the relationship between humans and living dirt.

April is National Poetry Month. To help celebrate this occasion, the City of New York is sponsoring the 8th annual Poem in Your Pocket Day on April 29, 2010. Public schools, after-school programs, and cultural venues throughout the five boroughs will host poetry readings, and writing workshops focusing on poetry.
